About Myself
My name is Sung Min (or you may call me John). I am joining Wake Forest University as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics. I earned my Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Illinois at Chicago in August 2024, under the supervision of Nathan Jones. Most recently, I served as an Assistant Professor at Dakota State University during the 2024-2025 academic year.
My research interests lie in Arithmetic Geometry; more specifically, I work on problems related to Galois Representations, Division Fields of Elliptic Curves, and the Distribution of Primes satisfying certain arithmetic or geometric properties associated with an elliptic curve or a family of elliptic curves.
I am also interested in Math Communication. I have been employing several tools to demonstrate how entertaining learning mathematics can be. Check the Math Communication tab to read more details!
My hobby is learning new languages. If you see me at a conference or a seminar, feel free to teach me some greetings and phrases in your language.
If you have any questions, feel free to send me an email!
